What is the Old South Baton Rouge Neighborhood Partnership Board?

The Old South Baton Rouge Neighborhood Partnership Board is a grassroots organization elected by the residents of Old South Baton Rouge. It is made up of OSBR residents and other Baton Rouge citizen-leaders. The Board's primary mission is to act as a steward for the entire OSBR community and adapt recommendations outlined in the OSBR Strategic Plan. To find out who serves on the Neighborhood Partnership Board, click here.

What is the OSBR Strategic Plan?

The OSBR Strategic Plan is a comprehensive document compiled by RKG Associates. The Plan incorporates input from hundreds of OSBR residents who spent hours offering their input and ideas about improving their community. The Plan includes dozens of concrete proposals about improving the quality of life for every OSBR resident. Examples of proposals include upgrading sidewalks, installing pedestrian-friendly street lighting, rerouting streets to reduce crime, and transforming the Corporate Canal into a recreational trail. How often does the Board meet?

The board generally meets on the third Monday of every month, usually in the evening at the McKinley Alumni Center, located at 1520 Thomas H. Delpit Drive (click here for a map). Occasionally the Board hosts other community meetings about issues that are important to OSBR residents. Please watch this website for announcements about upcoming meetings.

What role do the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and the Center for Planning Excellence play in the ongoing revitalization efforts in Old South Baton Rouge?

The Baton Rouge Area Foundation’s goal is to facilitate the implementation of the long-term Strategic Plan and assist the Neighborhood Partnership Board as it seeks to obtain independent nonprofit status. Similarly, the Center for Planning Excellence (formerly Plan Baton Rouge), acts as a resource for Louisiana communities that desire progressive, sustainable planning and design practices.

Where is Old South Baton Rouge?

Old South Baton Rouge is a three square mile area between Louisiana State University and downtown Baton Rouge. It is between downtown and the LSU campus, and extends east toward Dalrymple Drive and City Park. Click here for a map of the area.

There are several ways to get involved:

A NEW CHAPTER IN LIBRARY DESIGN
